These are the words I heard as I walked through the door of Sycamore Run. Three excited boys came up to me talking about being big kids now! I am just as excited about the new year. So many great things have been happening at our school and in our room. New floors, new arrangement, and now a new curriculum. Our first week was full of room exploration, welcoming back new and old friends and writing names on our attendance check in cards. Today we had great fun making faces in the mirror and drawing our first self portrait. Discovering what makes us the same and what is different about us is part of our self awareness month. After that we put our class gerbils Barack and Dottie in their gerbil balls. They ran around our meeting area and we gave them special treats and were also able to pet them. As they rolled around we talked about how we should treat our special animals with "gentle hands" and
"extra water."
I'd like to take this opportunity inform you that Thursday is our show and tell day. We read a book about show and tell and my friends are very excited about it.
